Early on in life, when I was a young boy, I learned that negative is all around us. We don't need to look for it or work for it. It's the positive that takes work.
I have been an entrepreneur for years and, as entrepreneurship goes, we often fail more than we succeed. This is a part of the process of "Plan/Due/Review". We can either take lessons from our experiences and, as John Maxwell coined, "Fail Forward" or we can decide that we will never succeed and simply, give up.
For example, as I ponder my Network Marketing business I think about all the people who say "No. That's an illegal pyramid scheme" or "No. That requires bombarding my friends and family".
The interesting thing about this is that most people who react this way have either (1) had a bad experience in the past or (2) just believe these ideas based upon ignorance and/or what someone has told them.
Then there are others who get excited about the opportunity I have just shared with them and they decide to go for it! They go out and talk to a few people and they get the "No" response. So they give up or quit, convincing themselves that "it doesn't work" or that "it's just not for me" or they unconsciously believe that they are "not worthy of success".
The truth is that most excuses are just that, excuses. We can do amazing things when we believe we can and stay the course with commitment and expectation of success. It is seemingly easier, however, to just think the negative because it allows us to stay in our comfort zones and never risk failure of discomfort.
Now, this post is not a plug for my network market opportunity, nor is meant to "bash" anyone. Anyone who knows me knows that my value system is the opposite. Actually, this post is for the opposite. It is to convey and encourage anyone who may need to hear it (included me) that we are capable of accomplishing great things with faith, courage, tenacity and hard work. The enemy is the space between our ears. So it only speaks to how very important it is for us to believe and focus on the positive; to actually work for the positive.
In my business, for example, instead of believing "this requires me going and bombarding my friends and family", believing that "I have something special and life changing that all my friends and family need to know about. After they know about it, they get to choose".
Another example in my business is "everyone said 'No' and this doesn't work" instead of realizing that there are over 7 billion people in the world and I just need to go through a bunch of "No's" to get to my yes's!" Everyone's timing is different and frankly, it's OK if not everyone sees or wants my opportunity.
Whatever your situation is, regardless of my business examples, take 10 minutes and watch this TedX video and then make it your mission to focus and work on the positive.
